Should the government spend more money on improving roads and highways or should the government spend more money on improving public transportation buses trains subways? Why?

Proper allocation of budget to critical issues of society is one of the most important duties of the government including the improvement of public transportation and roads. In my opinion, the government should pay more attention to rebuilding roads and highways. This essay will elaborate on this topic. On the one hand, the government should be more concerned about roads and highways. The latest statistics show that the first place of mortalities in recent decades belongs to road accidents. Moreover, an increasing number of people lose their lives as a result of unsafe roads annually. Therefore to stop these catastrophic consequences the government has to spend a remarkable amount of money to improve roads safety. In addition, due to the insufficient job positions in small towns, a lot of people have to travel the downtown of cities daily. In fact, they waste a lot of their precious time on the side roads every day. Indeed, if the government builds new highways, their time will be saved easily. On the other hand, global warming is one of the most important worries of human beings these days which is a result of the massive traffic jams that cars have made. Every single second a significant amount of greenhouse gasses are being produced by cars which may result in air pollution and global warming consequently. Needless to say, if the government pays more attention to upgrading subways and buses, less pollution will be produced and the earth can be saved. In conclusion, despite the matter of the public transportation system refinement and global warming, the importance of people's lives comes first. As a matter of fact, it seems to me that allocating a specific budget and enhancement of roads is more critical.
