should new areas open up to tourism? dgQjr
Do you know that Turkey is home to four hundred and thirty-six shopping centers, and one hundred and twenty-five of them are located in Istanbul? This is a fairly high number, and it is gradually increasing. Many people think that new areas should open up to tourism and investments should be made in these new areas to attract people. I strongly believe that natural areas should remain as they are, not be slaughtered to benefit financially or visually because this disrupts natural life and leads to tampering for the areas there.
Firstly, creating space for tourism requires some sacrifices. Usually, these victims are green spaces. A lot of people live in Istanbul, and as I mentioned, it is the city with the most shopping centers in Turkey. Are these malls only there to meet people's needs? Not. What about the trees that were slaughtered to build buildings in those areas? That is why forest fires occur cause damage not only to trees but also people by spreading to the living things in them and the environment. In this way, the natural balance is disturbed, living things face extinction, and biodiversity decreases. If the situation goes further, the oxygen cycle will become unsustainable, the ozone layer will become thinner with the increase of toxic gases such as carbon dioxide and global warming will increase drastically. From another perspective, even if we do not consider shopping centers to be the only source of tourism, humanity will still destroy the environment. For example, even if national parks are built instead of buildings and tourists are attracted, it is still people who do not collect waste from the areas where they have a picnic, causing glass waste to catch fire under the sun.
Secondly, restoration works are being carried out to open our cultural heritage to the public and tourists. This process, which is done to make the areas that are seen as ruins cute, is to change the artifact. The important thing is that the original is kept alive, not a corrupted or copied copy of the work. Moreover, it goes beyond the purpose of protection by not being meticulous in the excavations carried out for restoration and analysis studies and not being interested in the future of the work after obtaining the desired information or document.
In closing, if there is something more important than income from the tourism sector, it is the state of living things and nature. It should be remembered that the opening of new areas harms natural areas and historical monuments. Can we take this risk? Let's leave a good world for future generations!
