The line graph compares the rate of smoking in men and women in Someland over four decades (1960- 2000).
It can be clearly seen that the number of male smokers decreased gradually over time whereas that of female went into reverse. According to illustration, in 1960, 600 men out of 1000 people smoked, which was 6 times higher than the figure for women with only 100. From 1960 to 1975, there was an increase of 200 in the number of female smokers compared to a steady fall of 100 in the firgure for men using cigarettes. The next fifteen year period witnessed a gradual decline in the rate of smoking for men whereas the smoking habit of women remained stable until 1985. From this time onwards, both sexes experienced a downward trend to about 240 smokers in 1000 people at the end of the surveyed period.
