Household recycling rates in 3 countries
Household recycling rates in 3 countries 0P9
The line graph illustrates how much household waste was recycled in 3 distinct countries during a decade from 2005 to 2015. Overall, the recycling rates in the UK and Germany increased steadily over the period whereas that in France had an opposite trend.
According to illustration, the German and British started off recycling activities at the rate of nearly of 20% and 35% respectively in 2005. Both countries had a rapid increase in the amount of recycled waste during the next five years, and then their figure overtook that for France in 2011. From 2012 onwards, the rates of domestic recycled garbage in the UK and Germany, reaching around 60% in 2015, were always higher than that in France.
In contrast, initially, the figure for French recycling waste proportion was 50%, the highest data among 3 different countries. Strikingly, it decreased dramatically during the eight- year period to hit the bottom at 30% in 2013. After two years, there was a slight growth of 10%, but France's figure was the lowest at the end of surveyed period.
