Recently, speaking about Kurdish issue in turkey becomes controversial issue and it is now a matter of considerable public of concern. although many politicians in turkey deals with Kurdish issue as a matter of military problem, I strongly confirm that Turgut Ozal tackled with this problem in different way and perspective during his two governments and presidency. There are various evidences make my view clear. In this essay, I will attempt to consider all his attitudes and actions he took.
First of all, I strongly believe that Ozal was first Turkish modern politician who tried to talk to Kurdish leader and opened doors for talk with Kurdish to make dialogue about Kurdish rights in turkey. This is because, he was first Turkish leader allow Kurdish people to celebrate Newroz and gave Kurdish leaders to go on with their political activities. For example, research has been done by some researchers in Duhok university indicates that turgut Ozal gave much space to Kurdish to press Kurdish newspapers and televisions in Kurdish language. Furthermore, Turgut ozal was first Turkish leaders who called new Ataturk and some others called him new Salton. This is because, he tried to renew and confirm on Ataturk principle of united turkey and he was first leader who pushed politic in to forward many stapeses in turkey and allow many Islamic parties to engage politic atmosphere in turkey. and tried to make turkey democracy.
On another hand, many other people stand and refuse these positive claims about Turkey. That is because, during his first time when he was prime minister he dealt with Kurdish issue by using gun and attaching Kurdish territories and villages. Moreover, he established what called village guards and protectors who were Kurdish to fight against Kurdish worker party. In addition, some people think he was not successful in inner policy and he could not make turkey new and solve Turkish problems, although he was fantastic in policy and dealing with other countries as Europe and the united states and Israel.
From what has been discussed above we come with conclusion that turgut ozal was first Turkish leader who attempt to solve Kurdish problem and make turkey new and strong by keeping turkey united and modern new Islamic while he could not do many of these. it can be predicted that new leaders in turkey work to go on the same page of what Ozal gone through by providing turkey with democracy
