The pie charts and table illustrate the source of the police budget in 2017 and 2018 and how the money was segregated into three different sectors of salaries, technology, and buildings and transport. Overall, the total budget assigned to the police department increased in 2018, as the government contributed over half of the amount in both years. In terms of expenditure, the percentage of money spent on salaries decreased, while, that of technology rose. In 2017, local taxes were responsible for around 91 million pounds of the whole budget, though the number reached 102 million pounds in the next year. This was the most notable rise among the three main sources since national government contribution experienced a 2. 3 million increase and that of other sources saw a slight change of half a million pounds. However, the amount of money that was spent on transportation and construction remained unchanged and was responsible for 17 percent of the total expenditure of the police. Moreover, three fourth of the money was for paying the salaries of the staff and officers in 2017, though this fell to 69% in 2018. In contrast, the police spent an additional 6% on technology in 2018, increasing its role from 8 to 14 percent.
