patriotism and global wars
patriotism and global wars xLJjo
Some argue that patriotism is the primary cause of wars globally. Others feel that it serves to prevent less ethical politicians from running a country and starting wars. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
I strongly disagree that patriotism causes global wars. In my opinion, the history of world wars is an armed conflict between two superpowers or alliances that had their own political, military and ideological goals.
Large-scale wars, including World War I, World War II, and the Cold War, I consider to be conflicts where there is no sign of patriotism. I think these conflicts are an example of a clash of civilizations. In addition, medieval conflicts in Europe and worlwide were based on religious and ethnic bases. For example Thirty Years' War in which Protestants and Catholics participated, Crusades and so on. However If the kings were to confirm the correctness of their steps, they would say that it was patriotism And these conflicts had no other reason.
On the other hand, There is an opinion that patriotism is misused by unethical world leaders. I consider this is definitely true And I agree with this opinion. Hitler and Nazi Germany used nationalism and patriotism massively but it turned out to be the greatest evil in the world. Also ongoing russian military agression in ukraine is an attempt to satisfy the wishes of the nuclear state leader.
In Conclusion, I would like to say that that patriotism means protecting the homeland and not to unleash bloody wars for no reason. That is why global wars that have resulted in the senseless slaughter of millions of people are nothing more than the whims of less ethical leaders.
