Opinion about a inappropriate fine of sexual assault
Opinion about a inappropriate fine of sexual assault KLwL6
Last week, I came across the news: A man accused
You know, I'm speechless. In my opinion, this sentence is a joke because it is not a justifiable punishment. This punishment is too lenient for all the pain and mental breakdown the victim has suffered completely inappropriate.
From the perspective of the victim, I would feel this fine like killing a mockingbird. This fine is completely useless in terms of defending my honor and protecting me and women in general against such harassment. Furthermore, If I were her family, I would be indignant about this inappropriate fine. And I am certain that I would force the harasser to mete out more severe punishment.
In my point of view, the punishment was an insult to the victim and exposed the powerlessness of the current legal system against sexual harassment.
As a result, My anger provoked by the footage turned into outraged disbelief at the punishment meted out to the harasser.
By the way, from this case, We can acknowledge Vietnam’s legal impotence on sexual harassment arouses outrage and other crimes. These lenient punishments are futile deterrents to offenders and would discourage victims from revealing the iniure they suffered. I think these punishment like a encouragement for offenders continue their illegal actions
Through this case, I can see The legal weakness of Viet Nam impedes authorities from delivering justice and hinders the fledgling movement in Vietnam, which is already facing obstacles from the victim-blaming culture. When an incident happens, the public will divide into 2 groups: Victim- approving and victim-blaming. Those belonging to the second group always attribute the victim to her or his incidents. This cause mental and physical effect on the victim. Therefore, I think we need get rid of this harmful culture to protect the victim and especially human rights. And the Government of Vietnam should take further steps to honor its international commitments and improve its respect for human rights.
