One of the major reasons for people living to a higher age these days compared to the past is that there is dramatic development in the field science and health sector. This essay will discuss both the positive and negative effects of this notion. In my opinion, I think the positive impact of improvement in the field of health outweighs the negative one.
On the one hand, the major drawback of improved health facilities in different parts of the world is that the aging population will increase. In other words, the people will live for a longer period of time due to easy access to medical treatment. As a result, the particular country will have a large old age population and there will be shortage of young skilled manpower for various sectors which will have negative ramifications to the country’s economy. To illustrate, there is a rapid shortage of laborers in Japan due to an increase in life expectancy rate due to availability of medical facilities in all corners of the country. Thus, Japan is struggling to achieve the target of financial prosperity.
On the other hand, improved medical care can save people’s lives which can be considered as one of the important advantages. The people have to face various accidents in their day to day activities. If there would not be a proper hospital to care for such patients, then we are compelled to lose their lives. Thus, the development of hospitals is providing the opportunity for treating various ailments which was not possible a few decades back. For instance, the rate of people dying by road accident has decreased by 60% as compared to previous decades and the credit goes to the spending of the government on the health sector. Therefore, the further investment in the medical sector will prove to be a blessing for the world as it will help to save the precious of any individuals.
To recapitulate, although there will be a shortage of young working population, the advantage of saving human life can’t be overshadowed due to the advancement in medical treatment. Thus, the advantages of improved medical care always outweigh the drawbacks.
