We live in a commercial world today and we are presented with immense variety of almost everything that we purchase, from our tooth paste to our bed sheets, we have got a lot of options to choose from. These products can either be machine made or hand made. In this essay, I shall elaborate as to, why i would prefer a hand made good over machine made product.
Firstly, items that are made by hand, not only have a sense of personality but they are also significantly unique. No two products bought are ever alike. Secondly, buying hand made commodities, help in influencing the small business market. A lot of women, who have no education or help, have begun their journey of entrepreneurship by establishing small businesses such as home-made candles, shoes, accessories etc. Thus, Investing our money in such a business, will help these hard working and deserving people, earn the value for their labour as well as make sure that they lead a better life.
Huge multinational companies that produce products by using machines also employ mass cheap labour. These short term labourers are mostly under aged children who are paid the bare minimum wages which are not sufficient to survive. By buying machine made items, people indirectly support such violence against the helpless youth and make an un-ethical choice.
In conclusion, I believe that individuals should support hand made producers with every chance they get. This will not only help them be independent but also give them fruits for their hard labour.
