In today's cutting edge world where everybody is dependent on technology, it is often argued that electronic gadgets have altered the way children now spend their free time. I agree with the given statement and will explain the paragraphs below. Technology is one of the leading reasons for obesity in children. Nowadays, children spend most of their time on their mobile phones during their free time instead of playing outdoor games. This can make them more prone to obesity and the diseases that come along with it. Also, Using electronic devices affect the academic performance of a students. For instance, Studies have proven that children who read books or played outdoor games instead of using their mobile phones as a tool to pass their free time performed relatively better than their counterparts. Furthermore, prolonged use of technology can also affect an individual's eyesight which could increase their chances of getting a pair of glasses at a very young age. Nevertheless, these gadgets can also be beneficial for the children if used in a correct and productive way. Using mobile phones or other devices to read articles or watch informative content such as ted talks instead of playing video games or surfing through social media is a better way of using them which will only benefit them by improving their awareness of the current happenings of the world or their vocabulary. To conclude, there are surely some advantages of using technology as a leisure activity for children when used correctly but the adverse affects are far more than the good ones.
