Native & Non-Native Speakers
Native & Non-Native Speakers 2y6mb
Native language, as known as mother tongue, is the first language that a person has been exposed to from birth. The native language is not tought to babies, they learn it automatically. Noah Chomsky (1997) called it “Language Acquisition”. It can be said that language acquisition is learning the native language. However, since the first language is not equal to the other learned languages, this term cannot be used for language learning. Just as we have said that first/native language is not equal to other learned languages, we can also say that native and non-native speakers are not equal. There are many differencies between native and non-native speakers and the teaching skills of these two.
