my interest in The Third International Rationality Summer Institute
my interest in The Third International Rationality Summer Institute q8lod
I am writing to express my interest in The Third International Rationality Summer Institute. I believe that IRSI3 is a great opportunity for me to contribute to the research of other people working in the field of rationality and improve my own research with their perspectives, as well. Thus, there are several reasons for me to apply for IRSI3.
Firstly, I believe that my research experience and the direction that I would like to follow is a great fit for IRSI3. My main research focus is the repetition effects and biases in general. I believe my research could speak to the field of rationality and decision making. For my PhD dissertation I investigated the effect of repetition (i. e. truth effect) on stereotypes in minimal groups. I am also passionate about how the truth effect translates into decision making processes. In truth effect literature, the link between the increased truth by repetition is well established however there is no research done so far on the relationship between increased truth by repetition and decision making. Prof. Unkelbach and I inspected that topic during my visit in SoCCCo (Cologne, Germany) and our work is finally in press (https: //onlinelibrary. wiley. com/doi/10. 1002/ejsp. 2835).
Secondly, one of the topics that I am keen on is how metacognitive sensitivity might be related to truth evaluations of people. Although familiarity by repetition and metacognition are closely related at the theoretical level, empirical research is still needed for a better understanding. I would like to specifically participate in IRSI3 because I hope to benefit from attendance of great scholars as Asher Koriat and Packerman Rakefet.
Thirdly, as a young researcher from Turkey I can barely have a chance to be present in an international meeting due to the ongoing financial crisis in Turkey (https: //en. wikipedia. org/wiki/2018%E2%80%932022_Turkish_currency_and_debt_crisis). Thanks to the full stipend that IRSI3 offers, I decided to tr not to miss this great chance.
IRSI3 has so many benefits I would ask for at the moment. I would be thrilled if I could find the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers in the field of rationality.
