The advancements in technology have allowed people to watch pirated movies. While some argue that the opportunity to watch movies or read books without any charge is a positive development, others contend that watching pictures without charge is no less than stealing. This essay will dissect this debate before reaching an illuminated conclusion.
On the one hand, the availability of textbooks and music freely has caused several problems. Firstly, it has to be pointed out that downloading books and music without paying is morally wrong, it is, after all, a form of crime just as much as if someone had acceptance of shoplifting, stealing a song or a book. Secondly, the owners will suffer financially because humans would no longer buy their works. The fear of getting the work stolen is still deeply imbibed into the minds of creative artists which stunt the creativity and imagination, it can be claimed that if no one would spend money buying a copyrighted book, then the writers who produce them not be able to make a living, intellectual industries such as novelists, journalists or musicians would collapse.
On the other hand, this progress has brought tremendous benefits for the public. There are more people acquire a freer access to those copyrighted materials, would not be the preserve of a few. For example, two decades ago, ordinary people would not be able to obtain CD, which prohibitively expensive. In addition, it would increase the popularity of the novel or the film which contributes promote the fame of writers in a more powerful way and make them more widely renowned. Furthermore, lifting monitoring procedure and control are also something of greater advantage to creativity.
In conclusion, consider merit on both sides of the debate, it can be seen that greater weight is on the positive side of the looser control of copyrights. Therefore, it seems to me that writers should find ways to adapt to this process like make a living through free subscriptions on online forums.
