Many countries spend a lot of money on art. Some people think the money spent on art is necessary, but others say money is better spent on public services and facilities. VnEMJ
A considerable portion of the public budget is allocated to the art-relating domain other than public sectors in many nations. Different citizens hold counterpart views about this fiscal expenditure structure. I believe that the government should consider the development status of a certain country before distributing revenue. Investment in the art industry will benefit both the economy and cultural education of a nation. Firstly, the prosperity of the tourism industry relying on some impression cultural icons can generate a large amount of income from a variety of provided services ranging from accommodation to dining and admission charges. For example, without the fantasy architecture - Eiffel Tower, many international tourists would probably hesitate to visit Paris. Secondly, artworks can serve our communities with educational functions. Those well-preserved painting masterpieces in museums are widely considered as heritages reflecting a certain historical moment. If there is no such investment in protection by the government, we would hardly acquire an opportunity to get access to our history and culture. However, from the perspective of opponents, the government should pour limited money into public sectors such as health care and education services rather than spending it on art. It is undeniable that a good public service system that influences every member of our society can help to promote the economy and the well-being of residents. To be more specific, a well-running medical system helps employees build physical and psychological health, which can guarantee them to perform excellently in their careers. Besides, according to reliable statistics, educational expenditure has a direct impact on the employment rate, which is usually considered a mirror of the economy. In my own opinion, art spending should depend on the level of local development. Developed nations that have built good public facilities and service systems could consider distributing a higher percentage of their income to the art. Whereas, for those less developed areas, where the local government authorities should give priority to satisfying the basic needs of the public.
