Low levels of learning skills at school

Assessing the level of students’ skills at school has become increasingly popular nowadays with reading being the most important ability for the future of pupils. It is clear that reading efficiently needs to be taught at school, despite this being a daunting task. Additionally, it is common knowledge that parental involvement has a strong role to play in order to make children become good readers. In this essay, I will discuss these two aforementioned arguments in detail with supporting examples. To begin with, there is a general awareness of the limited time teachers have to finish a lesson, and reading might be thought to be done at home. However, it’s crucial that youngsters learn how to tackle the variety of writings, as some known writers use complex lexic. For instance, 10 year old children in France are obliged to skim 30 pages of an old book in 10 min. Thus, if students are given extra reading work at school they can improve their abilities. Moreover, parents that are involved in their children’s education, make them develop a passion for books, although they might have scarce time for this purpose. What’s more, not only reading together can reinforce family ties, but it can also be a nice way of spending an evening. To illustrate, mothers in Spain usually now read tales every night with their young ones, and this has resulted in a significant impact on their lives. To conclude, there are a plethora of ways to address this very sensitive issue. With the implementation of extra reading at school and parental involvement we can curb low levels of reading skills.
