It is my firm believe that a Child’s personality is developed at an early age. To make them distinct between right and wrong, punishment plays a crucial part to support the learning. Hence, parents and mentors should use the punishment in an effective way so that there be no psychological and physical harm to the child. Maintaining a balance of teaching a difference between right and wrong is a key part of child’s journey, resulting them into a well-behaved personality Furthermore, if a harsh punishment is given to a child, rather making any impact in learning, and developing skills it will lead to depression at early age. Parents should always follow a holistic approach to punish child, where one can be rewarded for his right behavior. If a child greets someone in a pleasurable way, he should be appreciated with a gesture of kindness either by gifting sweets, providing pocket money etc. Rewards are always loved by everyone, and lack of the collection will make them learn that they have done something wrong and should rectify to earn the reward. For any wrongful act, child should be immediately corrected by either involving in household work or should not be treated with their favorite food. This will always make them recall of the current situation at any future instance. The approach of setting example of role model helps them to design themselves like them and they can relate more if a person is sibling or someone from the close friends list. A punishment should never be in physical form as this will set an idea to them that this is acceptable in society. Also, this will further form part of Child’s personality and might be a struggle to change at later stage. I believe it is a decisive for children to learn the difference between right & wrong at an early age. However, punishment should always come in healthy way like detention, involving in physical work, withdrawing any privileges, etc. This will develop a sense of responsibility and discipline in a child’s behavior.
