New Year’s Eve is a traditional holiday celebrated in our country. It takes place on the 1st January and marks the start of the new year, a time when people go out with the old and in with the new. The celebration usually begins the day before and lasts three days. Many people are used to spending this day cleaning their houses, preparing traditional dishes and wrapping up the presents.
The focus of the celebration is a new year tree, which symbolizes the beginning of a new life and provides a feeling of winds of change. We believe that on the night of the new year Santa Claus comes to our house and puts presents under the new year tree. But before he comes, the child needs to write a wish letter and send it to Santa.
Traditionally people spend the new year night in the family circle, but it’s also a common thing to have a night in the town with friends or celebrate it alone. But no matter where and with whom you spend this night, the climax is the same for everyone - counting down to the new year. During this event people are making toasts, wishing each other health and prosperity and making new year resolutions. As a rule, after this celebrations continue with colorful fireworks in the town center.
