It has been claimed that workers over 50 are not responsive to rapidly changing ideas in the modern workplace and that for this reason younger workers are to be preferred. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It has been claimed that workers over 50 are not responsive to rapidly changing ideas in the modern workplace and that for this reason younger workers are to be preferred. Lq586
It is argued that the current workplace demands younger professionals than older workers because the latter are not adaptive to fast-changing ideas and technologies. Although I agree with this view to a great extent, I do admit that companies also need to retain some of their experienced employees due to their experience and wisdom. To begin with, since youngsters use technology in everyday life more than elderly people, thus they can connect with new modern attitudes much more. Additionally, they can easily learn how to work with advanced and novel software as they have a brighter and fresher mind. For instance, working in high-tech industries such as computer programming requires great knowledge of computer science and dealing with developed calculations, thus being younger may be privileged. Besides that, psychologists seem to have a consensus that memory declines with age for people, therefore they believe for many careers youngsters should be selected. However, workers over fifty years of age are also considered the asset of an organization. The main factor responsible for flourishing any business depends on identifying the risk and working towards reducing them. This could be addressed when the workplace has an elderly staff member who can guide this critical situation. Their vast experience not only adds value, but also helps in the critical decision-making process. Apart from new ideas, every organization needs workers with hands-on experience and a deep understanding of industry-specific issues. Thus, every organization clearly requires at least some experienced senior employees. In conclusion, it is undeniable that an organization requires employees who are flexible and responsive to change in current market dynamics, thus young professionals are preferred over older workers. Nevertheless, it is still important to retain at least some senior employees in key decision-making roles.
