It is quite unfortunate to observe prejudicial behaviours such as discrimination against people of different colours and nationalities still prevalent in the modern era. Liberals believe that such thinking patterns are not rooted in genetics but in upbringing, and therefore we can remedy the situation by socially educating the children. I firmly agree with this view. To understand more, let us deconstruct this view and examine if it holds. To understand the root of this intolerance, we first need to look into the issue itself. Most importantly, cultural differences such as religious and ethnic beliefs have played a key role in segregating the races. Apart from this people of some races have started seeing themselves as superior based on their skin tone. As many countries are formed on the basis of religion, this hatred has transformed into xenophobia. That is to say that, people correlate inferior or superior characteristics based on factors which are by-birth such as their nationality or colour which is not based on science. To solve this issue, it can be argued that if we increase the understanding of people towards different cultures, they will become more inclusive and open. To do this, we must encourage children to learn about people of different races so that they can develop global thinking in their early years of development. For adults, we must create awareness campaigns and teach them to revaluate their views. In closing, I would state that limited cultural knowledge has played an essential role in increasing the divide between people of different nationalities and races. However, this can be resolved with the means of education.
