Hippocrates : the father of medicine.
Hippocrates: the father of medicine. EbNyQ
Hippocrates, ancient Greek physician who lived during Greece's Classical period and and is traditionally regarded as the father of medicine. He did a lot of things that helped the medicine, like Hippocratic Corpus. Hippocrates has long been credited with writing a large number of ancient treatises, speeches, and letters on medicine, collectively referred to as the Hippocratic Corpus. The Hippocratic texts deal with all manner of medical topics but can be grouped into the four main categories of diagnosis, biology, treatment and general advice for doctors. There are over 60 treatises, each on specific topics, for example, joints, therapy, regime, surgery, physiology, the progression of diseases, purging remedies, and gynaecology. The issues of ethics and medicine's relation to other subjects, especially philosophy, are also discussed. He also did something else that doctors use until this day. It’s Hippocratic oath, ethical code attributed to the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, adopted as a guide to conduct by the medical profession throughout the ages and still used in the graduation ceremonies of many medical schools. The oath dictates the obligations of the physician to students of medicine and the duties of pupil to teacher. In the oath, the physician pledges to prescribe only beneficial treatments, according to his abilities and judgment; to refrain from causing harm or hurt: and to live an exemplary personal and professional life. The father of medicine, died in 375 BCE
