Car ownership has increased so rapidly over the last thirty years that many cities in world are now a big traffic jam. How true do you think this statement is? What measures can government take to discourage people to use cars? 3jM5b
with the advancement in technology, new automobiles are launched every other day. Over the past thirty years, car ownership has increased so rapidly that many cities in the world are now 'one big traffic jam'. I wholeheartedly agree with the statement, my reason would be further elucidated in the upcoming paragraph. The first and foremost reason is that people tend to exhibit their money in form of buying luxury cars. Every single member of the family has a vehicle. There are more than the required number of rides in every household leading to traffic jams as long as hours. In addition to this, people try to maintain society's standards in this way, or else it is considered a sign of poverty. As a result, we have big bottlenecks on highways and roads. To reverse this trend, authorities must make strict rules regarding the usage of vehicles. Society should be encouraged to use more public transport as less fuel will be burned and it will create less pollution. There should be new modified buses with basic facilities like AC and better seats. Furthermore, taxes should be imposed on those having more than the required vehicles. Taking everything into consideration, it can be seen that owning more and more cars is an option and as a result, it is leading to congestion in urban areas. The problem can be curbed if the right decisions are taken.
