give someone something that was given to you 1OL
To begin with, I agree that studying the past has little value in the modern world.
Since the majority of national laws are often discussed and legislated by past failures to prevent the same mistakes, some people might think it is essential, especially for children, to learn history. By doing so, they can know what happened in the past and think about ways to make our society better.
However, in my opinion, learning the past is not a practical skill for future careers and job opportunities. Children should be taught more pragmatic skills. The information technology class in high school is a great example of this. Some high schools in Japan are reluctant and hesitant to teach classes like these because it does not directly connect with the university entrance examination, which is the final and ultimate academic goal for the curriculum. Although the students know the history well, it would be their handicap when they find the job without proper knowledge on how to type via computer due to the fact that the schools underrate the importance of the technology class.
This asks an important question, how would it be if the schools cut back time for history class and instead used that time for technology classes. I think it would be more incredible benefits for the students. They could acquire the skills like making documents, analyzing data, statistics, and many more skills which we all must learn to get a job in almost all kinds of jobs in this modern world. Therefore, I believe there will be the little effect if kids are not taught history.
