The diagram illustrates how the electricity gets generated from the hydroelectric power station and is further
supplied to the houses.
There is a big river from where the water gets collected and stored in a high-level reservoir. The dams are often
constructed here which plays a vital role in storing and releasing water over a period of time i. e. during the day
and night. In the daytime, from the dam, the water is surpassed through the dedicated pipeline, and with the energy
of flow, water is taken into a generator which is used for generating electricity. Moreover, the power station enhances
the electricity created and helps the electricity to get transmitted to the power lines.
On the other hand, during the nighttime, the energy with which water flows becomes relatively less. Thus, the reverse
process begins wherein from the reversible turbines the water is pushed back with the help of pumping. The water
gets collected again in the storage channel.
