It is undeniable that obtaining stories through the internet increases the efficiency for the spread of information. Not only could viewers or readers be more likely to timely know about the changes happened in society, but also individuals have freedom to decide on when they browse the latest news. Taking commuters as an example, the majority of them have to go on duty during the daytime so that the certain TV programs may be missed owing to the fact that every channel is only available in its particular period. By contrast, the handy mobile phone and laptop enable them to surf the internet whenever they want. Compared with newspapers, additionally, the updating of information on line could be almost as fast as the speed of actual variations. One of the explanations is that releasing of newspapers needs more procedures and time than that of on-line stories. However, the reasons why I argue that there are also plenty of disadvantages in receiving news via internet social media could be introduced from two aspects. For one, the blue light from a screen on a cell phone does significantly harm to the eyesight of readers, whereas less injury could be brought through physical median, such as newspapers, and magazines. For another, the security and truth of massages could not be guaranteed on grounds of that the process of publishing a news by a social account is simplified. As we know, an editor in a publisher is responsible for the check work for news contents, while there is no counterpart stuff embarking on similar job as the account owner. Therefore, the presences of many rumors and and gossips tend to be more in virtual world. In conclusion, it is online platforms that widen the methods and impair the timing limitations for citizens to get various information about the world. Nevertheless, I am of the view that these merits could not exceed the issues, as risks of news truthfulness and short-eyesight, triggered by internet at the same time.
