For a long time art has been considered an essential part of all cultures in the world. However, nowadays people’s values have changed, and we tend to consider science, technology and business more important than arts.

There was a time when cultures were necessary globally. Nevertheless, current individuals believe that science plays a more important role than arts. I think the reason for the view change is the society structure development. Around 16th century, religions had relatively strong power in politics, and hired artists for their benefits. Hence, doing art back that time was a profitable job. Today as the technology development, being a programmer becomes a more efficient way in money making. While learning about drawing takes years to practice or handle the theories, computer languages can take only months. Similarly, running a small corporation make more for an average artist because of the social environment. You can get loan for local government, but can never borrow money from anyone else. Thereby, we value science subject more. To get people care and maybe love art, we can focus on promoting art as a leisure rather than a job. Therefore, the events needs to fit the schedule and preference of people, rather than forcing them. For children, interactive drawing activities can spark their interest. Then we can hold activities like public lectures for who has more free time, like students and elderly persons. After that, podcast about art may serve busy employees better. Even though I agree that schools can add courses about art, I do not support compulsory art exam. An unpleasant learning experience can ruin the kids’ interest on art. To sum up, in my opinion, people prefer science subject because of the material needs. We can attract people in arts by providing relevant leisures.
