Effective workplace relationships
Effective workplace relationships 3ww7d
Effective workplace relationships require trust, cooperation, communication, and respect. These relationships may potentially be useful as references or contacts in the future. It is common to have contact with co-workers who are different with your perspectives. It is important to understand and accept the differences in others to promote a healthy atmosphere in the work place. Personal relationships at work place grow when you have the same perspectives and ethics. What you should focus on, when you are at a work place is, to complete the works assigned to you in the manner directed. Concentrating on developing personal relationships with co-workers is optional and you need not bother about their ethics until it is not preventing you from doing your job. The ideology, behavior, customs and culture may be different for every individual. When you do not want to support their ethics, you should communicate your different perspective without hurting the feelings of others. Be respectful to others' views and deny them respectfully if you are not comfortable in following their views. Always have healthy communication and be helpful to others. One should be a good listener and a good communicator to maintain strong relations. Even if you don't support others' views, be friendly and helpful at workplace to maintain relationships.
Example:
Mr. A was working as a chef in a hotel. His colleagues are Mr. B, Mr. X and Mr. C. The company brought in a new plan. The normal working hours was 8 hours and they get $60 as daily wage. As per the new plan, workers will get only $50 for 8 hours and if they work for 9 hours, they will get $75. All the workers except Mr. A was not ready to follow the new system and the other workers started arguing with A to form a group to strike against management. They were neither ready to work an extra hour from the prevailing system nor satisfied with the wage company is offering. But Mr. A respectfully communicated with his colleagues that, he has a family to look after and his economic situation was very worse. So, he was ready to follow the new system and if he works for an extra hour, he can earn a good amount of money. He motivated others to follow the system as it was an opportunity earn more than the previous system. Other workers understood the position of Mr. A as he respectfully denied their request to join in the strike. He was always helpful to other workers thus none of the workers showed disagreement to Mr. A.
