Due to the massive development of science and technology, robots or artificial intelligence are widely used and play an important role in human lives. However, apart from that, they come with disadvantages as well. In this essay, I will provide deeper information on the drawbacks of AI technology.
Firstly, the cost to manufacture, maintain and develop AI technology is expensive. For the system to operate more easily and effectively, companies and corporations need skillfully workers which may cost them a huge amount of money for training. Besides coaching, maintaining and repairing expenditure as well as the expense of protecting their systems from hackers are also high in budget. Yet, if data leaks are not dealt with properly, the company might end up going bankrupt.
More importantly, the use of AI gadgets may increase the unemployment rate. As robots and modern machines usually replace manual labour, they have taken up the majority of working positions. We cannot deny that nowadays, more people have the opportunities to pursue higher education but there are still a lot of others who are not so lucky. In fact, these physical jobs could be the only source of income to afford their daily spending which in the long term, could enlarge the gap between rich and poor.
In conclusion, the negative impacts that AI technology have on businesses and the workforce are prominent and can not be underestimated. Nevertheless, this technology is one of the most crucial aspects which help us get closer to sustainability so solutions should be found to solve these problems.
