23-05-2019: In many cities, there is little control on the design and construction of new houses. Some people think that people can choose to build houses in their own styles instead of building them with the same as the old house style in local areas. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

In recent years, a government does not interfere strictly in the design and construction of new houses in some countries. An army of people claim that it is better to allow people to choose the styles of their houses instead of old styles of housing. Although there might be some disadvantage over this trend, I personally believe that the benefits are overweight the drawbacks, On the one hand, there are some disadvantages of free-style houses. Firstly, free-style houses directly affect the local landscape, especially the old town. To be more specific, with the trend of modernization, traditional styles are mostly unpopular. This is not suitable for the well-known city with the ancient beauty that need to be preserved. For example, Hoi An- an ancient town in Vietnam, recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO and is visited by numerous domestic and international tourists every year. Besides, the cost of building house with a custom design is also quite expensive. On the other hand, the free-style houses still bring several merits. First of all, the houses with modern styles would save space. In other words, the space of the houses will be used more efficiently and intelligently that makes people feel more comfortable and relax. Furthermore, modern house styles are convenience and mostly equipped with modern technology. The second merit is the safety that modern houses bring. In fact, nowadays, the new houses are built with better construction material and stricter protocols. Thanks to that, the houses is sturdier. As a result, free-style houses might be more convenient and safer than traditional houses. In conclusion, traditional houses bring the ancient beauty that attract tourists and also bring economical values. Nonetheless, I still believe that it is better to allow people to choose their own style houses.
