Given is the natural process describes in detail how a large anadromous fish species called salmon grows naturally from small eggs to big fish.
Overall, we can see that the complete life process of salmon lasts for approximately ten years. It is also remarkable that the salmon grows through four major stages during its life and this fish also have to migrate to three different kinds of habitat.
Firstly, the lifecycle begins when adult salmon lays eggs in upper river on the root of reeds where water is slow-moving, these eggs intermingle with some small stones and they stay there for around five to six months before they develop into fry. In the second stage, these eggs hatch into baby salmon or fry fish with the length of 3-8 cm. In this stage, they migrate into lower river where water current is strong and fast then they settle there for approximately 4 years.
In the next stage, when fry fish grow into juvenile which called “smolt” with the length of 12-15 cm, and immigrate into open sea for growing into next stage. The “smolt” inhabit in ocean for a longer time, roughly 5 years. Finally, these “smolt” evolve into adult salmon, they reach the full size of 70-76 cm that are five times the length of the previous form, becoming mature fish and living in ocean. The adults then move to upper river and lay eggs to start a new cycle.
