Throughout the history of human existance, people build some communities and live in societies because they are social creatures. As the time goes by, the understanding of society have improved and people created cities. In today’s world, governments and local municipalities spend money on different areas in order to have a better economy and improve the living conditions in cities. People have different opinions about which areas the money should be spent on.
Architecture has been one of the most appealing way to show power and wealth for hundreds of years. It is a well known fact that huge structures and gorgeous buildings impress people. In terms of economical development, it is improtant to attract tourists and investors in different areas to the city. Some people think that having large, impressive buildings in a city is the solution to this issue.
On the other hand, another group of people think governments should spend the money on hospitals and schools in order to serve better for the people of the city, instead of building impressive buildings. These services are essential for a city life. Educating people better and giving proper health services in the hospitals are signs of a social state and this is the real indicator of how developed a city or a country is.
In conclusion, I believe that without a good education system or a health service that can serve everybody in the city, investing the money on gorgeous buildings has no value in terms of development of the city, as we’ve seen as the global pandemic continues. While it is important to have impressive buildings that can attract tourists and wealthy people to the area, the first step must be making some investments on social services to support the future accomplishments of the city.
