It is argued whether computers are the greatest invention created by human. Although I acknowledge the fact that computers are indispensable tools in our daily basis, I hold the belief that human history witnessed more important things being created.
Admittedly, we derive many merits from computers. First of all, computers break down the distance barriers since they allow people to have a conversation with others through small screens. Family members, for example, cannot communicate directly with others, can strengthen their family bonds due to computers. The second advantage worth mentioning is that tons of data can be stored in computers which assists people in learning and working. To specify, instead of going to the library, students can easily find a thousands of past projects or a wide range of information in computers. It helps to improve overall human knowledge.
Despite all of the aforementioned advantages, there are many essential inventions of the last hundred years that have a huge impact on society. Chief among these is electricity as it has been giving rise for many devices. To illustrate, without electricity, not only technological devices cannot be used including computers, but also lowering our living standard. The second essential device is the Internet. Computers can only show full potential if they are cooperated with the Internet. To illustrate, the Internet has created the effective information system online via computers for students and businesses ranging from banking to entertainment.
In conclusion, although the benefits of computers cannot be denied, many important inventions such as electricity and internet are far greater.
