The diagram provided illustrates how a caterpillar transforms into butterfly in different types of stages.
Overall, process consists of seven sophisticated stages which begins with eggs laid and end with emerging a butterfly and occurs in approximately two months.
The cycle begins when the adult butterfly lays up to six eggs on a leaf. In the following stages, caterpillar emerges from one of these eggs. Over the course of next stages, caterpillar is feeding on leaf. This is followed by, caterpillar expands ten times larger size between two and six weeks. After growing, chrysalis stage starts which also called pupa.
During the following stages, pupa becomes young butterfly which has light colour of wings in three weeks. The process ends when young butterfly develops which gains unique looks with some dots, stripes and distinct colour on its wings after one day and a half and the cycle starts over again.
