As global trade increases, many goods, even those we use in a daily basis, are produced in other countries and have to be transported in long distances. Do you think the benefits of this trend outweigh the drawbacks?

With increasing globalization, the products which individuals are using on day to day basis are imported from foreign countries. I believe this situation has more disadvantages compared to advantages. My point of view is elaborated in the following paragraphs with the proper explanation and examples. To begin with, when the country imports stuff from other nations, it will impact on home country’s economy. A nation’s economy depends on the amount of import and export goods, when the rate of import will increase, the economy becomes weak. As a result, a weak economy means a reduction in the rate of development. For example, if the overall import is more than the total export, the currency of a nation becomes weak. In addition, people more like to buy international items, which is impacting the indigenous products. In recent times, people are giving more importance to international products because of cheaper prices and brands; however, it will make a lower sale to high-quality local stuff. As a result, local businesses are suffering from a lack of funds and sales. For example, children’s toys from one nation are cheaper because of poor materials used on them; nevertheless, it will impact children’s health. On the other hand, it is good for markets to have good competitors. When local companies have competitors, it is better to maintain the quality of products and control the price for domestic items. For example, the pair of cloth which have cheaper and good quality than local products, then local venders also try to provide the same type of products in the cheaper price with good material. To conclude, global trade is rising the transportation of goods from one place to other places. It is more demerits of this situation such as impacting on the economy and damaging domestic markets.
