The bar chart shows the decrease in the number of accidents per kilometre in Bridgewater following the introduction of extra lanes on motorways M1, M2, M3, M4 and M5.
We can see an overall decrease in the rate of accidents per kilometre.
The largest improvement occured on the M5 and the M1, where we can see a decrease of 10 and 8 accidents per kilometre respectively.
In contrast, the construction of extra lanes on the M2 and M3 wasn't necessarily as successful, as both saw a decrease of only 2. However, it is worth noting that, although a similar downward trend happened on these motorways, the number of accidents per kilometre was significantly larger on the M2 to begin with.
