In this technology-driven world, social media websites like Facebook, Twitter can influence youngster's social, physical and mental life to a large extent. Sometimes, it proves to be detrimental to young children who use it without the supervision of parents. This essay shall discuss solutions for the above mention problem in the subsequent paragraphs. An important problem with adolescent's unsupervised and excessive use of social media is that they may end up in unhealthy friendship with strangers having negative influences. They may also get access to illicit websites which displays pornography and suicidal games like Blue Whale. Turning to a possible solution, parents can educate their children of the consequences of participating in harmful online chats. For example, a recent study shows that youngsters who are aware of the dark sides of social media tend to engage in little conversations with strangers. Moreover, parents can also keep an eye on the messages and chats to know if their child is engaging in good healthy talk with the right people. Another solution is that government must ensure the development of the age verification process in social media websites. It helps to restrict the entry of young ones who are below the age of eighteen to social media platforms. For instance, Facebook has an age-restricted entry policy, but they lack the age verification process. It would be highly appreciable if they include it in the upcoming versions. In addition to that, the government needs to take measures to develop social media platforms that are user-friendly for youngsters. In conclusion, there are numerous hidden disastrous influences in social media awaiting young people. Parents and elders must make them aware of it and guide them to use it for good purposes. Also, the government has to ensure that social media platforms are safer for the young ones to use. Hopefully, these measures would help to reduce cyber crimes against youngsters.
