UBC’s MBA puts a strong emphasis on understanding culture and the impact that it has on the global business market today. Throughout my professional career, I have interacted with people from different parts of the globe on their visits to my country and through virtual meetings. This has provided me with a basic understanding of how culture impacts the way people conduct business.
However, owing to most of these interactions have been in my own country, I could not completely dive into the experience of a new environment and change of culture. This is one of the reasons why the global immersion program excites me and is an opportunity that I am most drawn towards. Not only does this programme provide me with the experience of a new culture and interaction with people from diverse backgrounds, but also would help me foster new learning strategies and develop appropriate knowledge of the various ways to operate a business.
My drive and interest in the programme were further accelerated by a conversation with an Alumni of UBC’s MBA program. The two things that stood out to me were the mentoring program and the one-on-one career coaching, both would cement my career path moving forward.
