Next, according to our findings, the respondents more prefer to spend less money in treating minor illness. For them, the range of money spent (RM10- RM30) would not burden their pocket instead of they have to spend their time by seeking a doctor. For them, minor illness can be cured with a simple treatment and only take few days to get better. However as can be observed, some of them with high educated wilful to spent the higher range amount of money (RM151-RM300) to get cured more faster instead of pay less. This might be due to they want to get recover faster as they had to fulfil their work in offices.
Perception towards the management
Despite all the statement given, (4. 41±0. 680) was the highest mean and standard deviation statement of perception towards self-management. With total (n = 358, 91. 8%) of respondent, they do agree with the statement “I will self-manage of minor illness if I have experienced the same symptoms before”. Some potential reasons for our observations about this option were, the respondents do believe that the experienced they had may help them on how to obtain the symptoms relief related to minor illness. In the meantime, they might have their family members as references to consult and share the experience in managing minor illness
Self-rated level of knowledge
Moreover, as revealed in the result above, the highest mean and standard deviation of self-rated level of knowledge was common cold (4. 33 + 0. 78) with excellent self-rated (n = 187, 47. 9%). As we know, common cold is an infection of nose and throat that can easily spread between another. According to Mahmoud S. Al Haddad 2006, people were easily getting infected at least 1 to 3 times a year and similarly to this study, the public also believed that common cold can be cured by its own either watchful, waiting or resting or use left-over medicines.
