There are many types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music heard everywhere nowadays?

Two major reasons why music is required is for relaxation and entertainment. I believe that local music of a country are of more benefits than the international ones. Exploring why people listen to music, the fundamental purpose is to relieve one of stress and to serve as an avenue to have fun. A growing body of evidence has established the therapeutic role of music in stress management. No wonder psychologists employ it as a form of psychotherapy in the treatment of neurotic disorders and sleep problems. Aside from this, it also serves as a means of entertainment, thus, making people happy. A number of music lovers attend concerts as a way to pass times and have fun. Therefore, music is needed to ease stress and a tool to make one happy. That being said, even though both the traditional and the foreign music can sub serve the above need, I believe the local music should be considered more important. This is because it is more likely to appeal to the listeners than the international ones as the language, dance, values and culture being portrayed are more home friendly, which means they are likely to enjoy them more. For example, music albums are more likely to trend more in the local settings of production than abroad. Thus, people tend to value them more when compared to the foreign ones. In conclusion, music is mainly essential for stress relaxation and a means of entertainment and I believe that the indigenous types can sub serve these functions better than the international types.
