Given is the pie charts elucidating the sales of various genres of books sold by a bookseller during the period of 1972 to 2012. Overall, the portion of adult fiction book sold by a specific bookseller experienced the most significant upward trend. In addition, biography books contributed the smallest segments of sales over the given period. A closer look at the chart reveals that in 1972 adult and children’s fiction as well as biography books both contributed the most to the sale of a bookseller at nearly two-fifths of the total. It was then followed by travel with 15%, holding the runner-up position. Meanwhile, the percentage of other kinds of books merely recorded at 25% in the same year.
Forty years later, adult fiction witnessed a noticeable increase in books sold, culminating in the peak of 45%. Likewise, children's fiction books had a marginal rise of 5% throughout the period. The reverse trend was the case of the remaining genres. Specifically, the sales of biography witnessed a progressive decline to 8% at the end of the period, accounting for the lowest portion of the pie.
