The diagram illustrates the process of electricity generation using Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion(OTEC) system. Overall, it can be discerned that the technique produces electricity as well as drinking water. The main components of the process are an evacuated evaporation chamber, a turbine, and a condensing chamber. Initially, solar energy from the sun is used to heat the surface seawater to around 29°C. The warm water is then introduced to the evacuated evaporation chamber, where it is boiled. As it boils, salt is separated and water vapor is produced. This vapor then drives the turbine to produce electricity. Following this, the vapor is led to a condensing chamber, where it is cooled by water from the depths of the ocean. Here water vapor is condensed to create drinking water. Meanwhile, the waste salt water is discharged into the ocean and the process is repeated.
