Well, the citizens of big cities or megacities tend to be less happy than those who live in the countryside and less developed cities. Life cost is high here which could explain it.
Firstly, the life quality standard in developed cities is higher than in others. Therefore, people here must work very hard and challenge themselves to earn money to pay for makes and meet. Because of that, they do not have enough time to spend on their leisure activities and families. Secondly, due to the less time to recharge, developed citizens easily struggle with mental disorders. While people in the countryside or less developed cities also face economic problems but at lower levels. Besides that, they could have more time to take care of their family and reboot themselves.
Overall, in my opinion, the economy is an important reason why citizens living in big cities are less happy than others.
