The given chart illustrates the changing rates of crime in the inner city with three categories: burglary, car theft and robbery over 9 years, from 2003 to 2012.
Overall, the number of incidents of burglary had considerably decreased. While the rate for car theft and robbery remained unchanged.
In 2003, the number of incidents of burglary stood at nearly 3500. Until 2004, that peaked at 3750, then had a dramatic decline and hit the lowest point of 1000 in 2008. Between 2008 and 2017, the figure tended to steadily increase, from approximately 1000 to nearly 1500 incidents.
In comparison, the robbery rate was gradual over 9 years and reached a highest point of 950 in 2005, while the number of car thefts significantly fluctuated.
