What do you think about benefit of competition and cooperation for children? It is an ongoing question that exists for each of us in today’s modern life. In this regard, some people believe that a sense of competition in children should be promoted. Others consider that cooperation is more important for their future life. Both views have some points to discuss. Those who agree with the view that competition is better for children have various reasons to support their idea. Firstly, a sense of competition certainly motivates children. Because, if there is a rivalry, they could feel in a race and also known as everyone wants to be a winner and likes to be successed. Secondly, sense of competition contribute to children for persistently improving themselves. In as much as, everyone always wants to get ahead of others when they have a sense of competition. For example, Bogazici University is the best one in Turkey. All students who are studying at last year of high schools want to get into Boğaziçi University but there is just admitting to students who have had good ranking in university exam. In parallel with they have to improve hemself and try to get ahead of other students for that. According to the supporters of this view, competiton is indispensible for children. However, the supporters of the opinion that cooperation should be required in children present their own points, too. First, a cooperation teachs them to how children work as a group and division of labour. The children who are working together could have different skills each other. Also, this situation has given opportunity to them for unite forces about their skills. In addition, children who are collaborate with somebody on something will be friendly people in their future. Surely, they should be known that it is very important for their social life. For example, Besiktas footbal team’s players have a lot of special skills but they are not taught to cooperate, so they could argue each other and not play well together. The supporters of this view believe that cooperation is significant for children. In conclusion, the supporters of these two views have their own opinion. From my personal point of view, I concede that a sense of competition has good things for children. Despite that, cooperation is the most important points for children. The reason for my decision that cooperation is more beneficial for them.
