Certainly, non-renewable energy sources like oil, coal, and gas are significant factors to continue living on the earth. As they cannot be readily replaced by natural processes, it is argued that governments should increase taxes on fossil fuels to decline their consumption. However, this issue is not entirely straightforward, and arguments can also be made against this idea. The debate will be discussed and the conclusion will be given in this essay. On the one hand, those who support imposing high taxes on fossil fuels, cite that the non-renewable energy sources will be exhausted completely due to consumption freely by increasing populations. Our day-to-day life heavily depends on natural resources. Depleting petrol or diesel will be a disaster for our future life. An example that can be seen is that fossil fuels are used for the majority of our technologies, health, and industry, causing our life easier and safer. As we are getting used to these, without them continuing living will be difficult or impossible. Potentially, Excessive use the fossil fuels cause increasing air pollution. Therefore, by forcing high taxes on them we can control their use it then the amount of pollution can be declined. By contrast, opponents of this view point out that the result of forcing taxes in some countries reveal this way does not only decrease the use of fossil fuels but also has the negative effects on the majority of people who are low- income family and their life depend on these factors and they are limited or deprived to use them. For example, drivers who earn their income only from working with cars which depend on petrol or diesel. If they cannot pay high taxes, they will get in trouble. Moreover, fossil fuels could be used considerably by affluent people who can pay any taxes. The possibility to decrease air pollution from high taxes does not work exactly. Overall, it seems advisable that the decision of imposing taxes on fossil fuels and putting other solutions ways will be benefit for future life.
