Future plotting and planning of life is not important for some people as they believe in living in the present. I on the other
hand, disagree with this statement, reasons for which are articulated below.
Life is unpredictable, a person who is healthy and happy today may not be in the same condition the very next second.
Healthy and young individuals will grow old with frail bodies where financial backing will be needed for medical expenses and
day to day consultations. If nothing is saved we will always be dependent on some body. Moreover, Financial conditions
changes from time to time. Economies go through recession where businesses go bankrupt or face huge losses. Here is where
investments and savings come in hand, in time of dire need. For example, during Covid-19 businesses have faced huge losses
and fired employees. I was also asked to leave during the lockdown period and this is where my saved salary came in play and
even though I was unemployed I still was not financially dependent on anyone.
Planning also motivates one to work even harder. When you have set of goals in front of you and know what to achieve, you
will automatically be more determined and work diligently. Children from young age plan to be doctors and engineers when
they grow up and chose their subjects accordingly. Additionally, human nature desires to achieve more and more and have
high objectives. If a family is living in a rented apartment they might want to save to purchase a house or change their car. I,
for instance, want to change my laptop for a newer model and better processor as it is giving me a hard time these days;
hence, holding all my money in one account, to purchase it when I gather enough amount.
To conclude, I don’t agree with the fact that making strategies and setting goals is a waste of time. We should not always take
a leap of faith and dive in the future with no resources and savings. Saving for the future and being prepared for downfalls
and recession beforehand is an intelligent move. It also encourage and gives us an aim to work towards and a sense of
achievement is experienced and provides a safety net to fall back on.
