Should parents be obliged to immunize their children against common childhood diseases? Or do individuals have the right to choose not to immunize their children? What is your view of this practice? kPKKO
In recent years it has been argued whether it must be compulsory or optional for parents to vaccinate their children as a form of precautionary action against early childhood diseases. I, however, opine that the country and the continent that people live in must be considered, which then can be made obligatory to immunize children. Admittedly, child death rates have been minimized with the help of several vaccines created by scientists. In the past, it was rife for children to die in an early age due to fatal illnesses or even ailments and parents could not protect their child from them. Improving fields such as medicine and science allowed people to prevent such diseases. Moreover, nowadays due to climate change and air pollution a range of different viruses are emerging and also mutating to more dangerous ones. Being born in a world where there is pollution everywhere, children are even exerted negatively when they are in a mother’s worm, which then leads to severe illnesses from an early age. If parents do not immunize their children, this will highly likely result in getting contagious viruses that might become life-long problem to them. Therefore, since children are not mature enough to make choices, parents must be accountable to their health and prevent them from contagious diseases. However, not all drugs and vaccines that medical companies offer are trustworthy. To be more precise, parents are scared to utilize such services because they might not be reliable or have side effects on juveniles such as fever, swelling and tenderness. Furthermore, it is proven that children create an immune system straight after they are born and their bodies try to fight against those illnesses. This can be beneficial in a long run because they have developed a rigid immune system that can protect the body from viruses. Thus, parents consider those facts and conclude that it is not crucial to vaccinate children. Continents that people live have always varied a lot, especially in the realm of the environment. For instance, population of Canada, Germany or other western countries might not face fatal illnesses, pandemics frequently as those who live in Africa because these countries generally have better living standards, medical conditions and safe environment to live. Consequently, when creating such rules abovementioned factors must be considered. In conclusion, although not vaccinating children can lead to fatal consequences, some parents believe that the natural ability to build a strong immune system can stand against illnesses. I, however, think that before making it compulsory, individuals’ living conditions must be taken into account, which then can show people whether to immunize or not.
