It’s a common belief that we’re more easily get attracted to bad news than good news due to their fascinating details. As such, more and more people take the view that more bad news should be broadcasted on several means of media outlets. However, I firmly believe that we’d better refrain from disseminating bad news because of their breakable authenticity and high-level danger of creating violent outbreaks.
Firstly, bad news is not always verified by the superior authorities. As a natural instinct, we humans are inclined to be exquisite about controversial things. Social media will take this human’s character as an advantage to make up misleading articles and then get financial perks by increasing the netizens’ views and interactions. For instance, there’s a rising demand for being updated with the latest news during the Covid pandemic. As a result, some people on the Internet will write fake news about the vaccines, the number of Corona-contracted patients to get our attention. This reckless behavior will cause contradictory, confusing public opinions as we get access to a number of unauthentic information.
Secondly, bad news made it easier for us to get involved in several violent attacks. Some news can cause divided opinions between people and even protests or wars in the worst-case scenario. For example, America is infamous for ongoing strikes and George Floyd’s recent death is the most obvious evidence. This event has caused a hysterical, furious atmosphere in Black people’s community towards the act of exploiting and destroying the dignity of their race. Hundreds of protests were executed even under a huge amount of pressure from dealing with the catastrophic Covid 19 pandemic, which has turned this country into whole chaos.
In conclusion, bad news can cause much unofficial information, false alarms, and a series of violent outbreaks at the worst. For these reasons, it’s clear that we should not broadcast too much bad news on mass media.
