Dear Steve,
I appreciate being asked to arrange Claire's leaving party. I've really enjoyed working with her since she joined us five years ago. She'll be missed.
I think that the best day would be the day that she actually leaves – the 31st of this month. It's a Friday, so I think that everyone – or almost everyone – should be able to make it. Besides, if anyone overdoes it, they can recover over the weekend.
I suggest we have the do at 'The Lamb and Flag'. First of all, it's close by and everyone is familiar with it, given that we often go there after work for a quick pint. Secondly, they have a small function room upstairs. I've had a chat with the landlord and he's happy to let us use it for a few hours free of
charge, since we're regulars.
I also asked the landlord about some snacks and he said that he can lay on plenty of sandwiches and some finger food for a reasonable price. As for a bit of entertainment, I had a word with Sheila and Mike, who are in a band. They can sing a few songs for us and then we just have something playing in the background using a laptop and some speakers.
If you have any questions or suggestions, let me know.
All the best,
Mark
