No act is done purely for the benefit of others.

No act is done purely for the benefit of others. R8x78
In today’s modern world, each and every individual seek to get oneself ahead of others in every cases, wants to get success first than other contemporaries. Author, in here, claims that individual doesn’t do any act purely for the benefit of others. He avers the claim for the reason that all actions are based on self-interest. However, I am neutral on this claim for the reasons to be outlined below. To begin with, I do agree in this world ripe of competition even among the close ones, individual will not compromise in any case in order to put himself ahead of his colleagues. The famous quote “save yourself and also save others” can be the better paragon on this situation. It is not uncommon to say that individual, every time, seek for opportunities in their respective field of work and why not? After all the drudgery and perseverance that individual puts in his work be it studying in class or be it working in a certain company, he seeks for the proper remuneration. And when finally that time arrives why would an individual compromise to leave his benefits for the sake of others. So, we can say that individuals perform almost all acts only for their personal benefits; however, the same benefit might sometimes support other people which are good for both. Author’s reason, for the claim, that though the actions that seems to be done for others are solely based on self-interest also comes true in many cases. For instance, say an individual employee might be assisting his colleague in certain project, though he is not the part of that project. Here, the prime, if not secondary purpose of that individual is that the very colleague might assist him back on his near to come projects of his one day. Also, it is undeniable that thinking of oneself all the time is not that bad as every person in this faster changing world wants faster achievements and that also in short time. Nevertheless, in this self-concerned world, we can find the individuals who devote themselves for the sake of others happiness. For instance, a renowned lady here in Nepal, Anuradha Koirala, founder of Maiti Nepal, threw other whole life for the sake of those innocence women who were the victims of many traffickers. She never had any self-interest about being famous among the women population, nor did she want to be any politician through that popularity. It was her sole decision to help out those victims and create a secure environment for those innocent girls. Moreover, another recently well-known name here is Dr. Sanduk ruit, Nepal’s blind healer. He went to the ruler areas, also reached out the every blind individual he could reach and healed them. His altruistic treatment to bring out them from dark world to the brighter world is another best epitome that not all individuals do anything for self-interest only but there are certain numbers stepping up for other’s assistance selflessly. To sum, it sounds good for when everyone when seek for personal benefits but saying that it doesn’t mean one should be so selfish to such extent that hiinders other’s opportunities. We must look for personal achievements but without hampering others way to success and also, coming out from the self-interest, helping others in need will surely benefit both- one with success and other with happiness of helping others.
